Fairfield by Marriott continues to grow in Japan with seven new hotel in 2022

Fairfield by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary brands, announced the planned openings in 2022 of seven new Fairfield properties across four prefectures in Japan: Nara, Hokkaido, Hyogo, and Okayama. Together with these seven planned openings, the Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki project is expected to expand its portfolio to a total of 21 hotels across nine prefectures in the country by the end of 2022.

These anticipated openings continue the momentum of the Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki project in Japan, a collaboration with Sekisui House that began in 2018. The Fairfield by Marriott hotels are located near roadside rest stations called “Michi-no-Eki” in Japan, situated close to national parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites that unlock access to many destinations off the beaten path.

“We are very excited to continue to expand the Fairfield portfolio across Japan in collaboration with Sekisui House,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Marriott International. “We have seen great success with Fairfield’s ‘Michi-no-Eki’ project, with 14 Fairfield by Marriott hotels already open across five prefectures in the country. We look forward to continuing to expand the brand’s footprint with new additions delivering Fairfield’s friendly service and warm hospitality in little-known destinations across Japan.”

Each Fairfield by Marriott hotel takes inspiration from its surroundings, delivering the beauty of simplicity for guests who appreciate a calming, reliable experience characterized by warm hospitality. The hotels’ public areas serve as flexible social spaces to share and connect with other travelers or simply to relax. Guests can expect a harmonious balance of functionality, comfort and enriching décor in natural materials and carefully selected amenities. Ranging in size from 21 to 25 square meters, each guestroom features comfortable beds, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a space-saving shower booth. The hotels also offer a Breakfast Box, allowing guests to start their mornings with a bento box filled with delicious local specialties as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.

The hotels that are anticipated to open in 2022 are:

Fairfield by Marriott Nara Tenri Yamanobenomichi (99 rooms, opened March 21st, 2022)
Fairfield by Marriott Hokkaido Eniwa (102 rooms, expected opening May 26th, 2022)

With the growing demand for self-drive travel, the new Fairfield by Marriott hotels will deliver on the brand’s principles of friendly service and warm hospitality for travelers to explore the unique destinations across Japan,” said Masahiro Taguchi, Project Director of Fairfield by Marriott’s Michi-no-Eki portfolio.
