Muscat airport runway work to be completed this year

Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced that work is in full swing on the southern runway and taxiways of Muscat International Airport which is being developed at a total investment of over RO21 million ($54.3 million), reported the Oman Daily Observer.

 The runway, a second one for the Omani capital, will be ready by year-end, said senior CAA officials.

 In addition to the southern runway, the other significant projects being implemented by the CAA this year includes the Phase One of Musandam Airport Construction (consulting studies) as well as the upgrade of the National Aviation Strategy 2040, the officials stated.

Under its ‘Ithmar’ program, the Omani authority aims to invest heavily in civil aviation sector with focus on boosting the sultanate’s aviation infrastructure, it added.
