Accor switch to D-Edge for central reservations tech

Accor has chosen technology brand D-Edge Hospitality Solutions, which it owns, to provide its central reservation system. D-Edge was formed by Accor in 2019 by merging two hotel technology companies Fastbooking and Availpro, which were acquired by the hotel giant in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

France-based Accor originally announced a partnership with Sabre which would see the development of a property management and reservations system in early 2020. However, the pair parted ways as the pandemic hit and, a year later, Accor said it had not “reengaged” with Sabre on the partnership.

During its recent Q4, 2021 earnings call, Accor CEO Sebastian Bazin described D-Edge as a “jewel” within the group. He went on to claim that the company was number one in Europe and number three in the world for hotel technology, after Amadeus and Sabre, and that the board had decided to entrust the Accor portfolio to D-Edge’s technology “after a year of investigating.”

“It’s not a leap of faith at all, but that company deserves more resources, both human capital, tech capital. But I can tell you, fabulous success for the last five years, and enormous opportunities for the next years ahead through D-Edge, which is 100 per cent owned by our company.”

In its latest statement on the move, Accor says cloud-based D-Edge will provide its next-generation CRS that “can address new challenges in hospitality.”

Floor Bleeker, group chief technology officer, Accor, says: “Accor is one of the most disruptive large hotel chains, and the first to adopt a multi-PMS strategy. As the ecosystem and distribution channels evolve, we want to provide our hotels with a future-proof, agile and user-friendly platform.”

Accor will gradually switch properties from its existing reservation system TARS to the D-Edge CRS.
