Tamil Nadu returns to Germany with its presence at ITB Berlin

Tamil Nadu, located in the south of India and renowned for its majestic temples, showcases its diverse persona and targets Germany as a strategic market by participating in the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) 2024 from March 5, 2024 to March 7, 2024. In line with its tourism growth objectives, Tamil Nadu aspires to be a top international destination.

To showcase the attractions of Tamil Nadu’s tourism, a designated pavilion for Tamil Nadu Tourism will be set up at ITB Berlin. The pavilion will highlight the lively culture, picturesque landscapes, and architectural marvels located throughout Tamil Nadu offering a comprehensive overview of the state’s tourism and hospitality services.

The initiatives at Berlin aim to strengthen connections and partnerships in the tourism sector, serving as the pioneer for promotional campaigns in Germany. These efforts will prioritize enhancing Tamil Nadu’s tourism infrastructure, connectivity, visitor services, and fostering collaboration among agencies.

Dr K.Manivasan IAS. Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments Department, along with Ms Usha Kakarla IAS., Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Tourism and Chairperson/Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC), will be present at the event.

Tamil Nadu has a rich and diverse cultural heritage represented by its iconic monuments of great architectural and historical value. We are excited to be able to promote our enchanting destination on such a significant platform in Berlin, working to improve our tourism network without abandoning our philosophy of environmentally and culturally sustainable tourism, attributes that are in line with the demands of the German traveler.
Tamil Nadu is culturally rich, with six UNESCO World Heritage Sites and iconic events throughout the year, such as the Indian Dance Festival, the Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival, the Tamil Nadu International Kite Festival and the Chennai Vizha, an international handicrafts and handloom festival.

With year-round festivals, Tamil Nadu offers travelers the chance to experience its rich traditional celebrations. Notably, Pongal, a significant four-day harvest festival, features the exhilarating Jallikattu, a traditional bull-taming sport.

The completion of a state-of-the-art 16-acre Jallikattu arena in Madurai exemplifies a sophisticated venue dedicated to the traditional sport. In Jallikattu, the bull is released into a crowd of people who then try to grab the bull’s hump for as long as possible. The primary purpose of Jallikattu is to preserve the unadulterated lineage of indigenous bulls.

The tourism segments of Tamil Nadu offer something for everyone, from nature enthusiasts to adventure seekers. Nature lovers will discover their haven amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Tamil Nadu, including national parks, mangroves, and hill stations. The Nilgiri mountain range stands out as an international biosphere reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

For adventure enthusiasts, Tamil Nadu presents thrilling experiences with opportunities for trekking in the lush Nilgiri Hills, engaging in water sports along the coastal stretches, and embarking on wildlife safaris in the state’s national parks.

Along the road less travelled, away from the popular hill stations of Tamil Nadu, destinations like Kolli Hills, Jawwadhu Hills, and Yercaud are actively being developed by the Department of Tamil Nadu Tourism for a refreshing summer getaway

Tamil Nadu’s Niche Tourism offerings feature diverse segments, such as Cruise Tourism, Caravan Tourism, Camping/Glamping, Heritage Trails, Photo Walks, and Heli-tourism.

The essence of “Where Stories Never End” is deeply embedded, promising cherished memories that linger in the hearts of the visitors.
