Honorary Doctorate conferred for Rajendran Vellapalath

Rajendran Vellapalath, a pioneer in the aviation and airline technology industry, Founder and board member of TPConnects Technologies and Founding Chairman of the Kerala Pravasi Association (KPA) was conferred ‘The Doctor of Business Honorary Doctorate’ by the Bolivarian University of Venezuela on the recommendation of the National Humanity Peace Federation.

He was recognized for his philanthropic work towards the welfare of expatriates from Kerala – from creating jobs to ensuring better rights for his community in the UAE and the Middle East.

Based in Dubai, Vellapalath founded TPConnects Technologies, a pioneer IATA NDC-enabled IT provider and travel aggregator company, that has been a game changer in the aviation distribution industry. Earlier this year, the company was acquired by Flight Centre Travel Group from Australia, with a majority stake (70 per cent) after an initial investment for a 22 per cent stake in 2020. He has been a prominent figure within the Middle East airline industry and has previously served leadership roles with Rotana Jet, RAK Airways, South African Airways, Singapore Airlines and Emirates Airline in various roles.

He is also the founder and CEO of Voizzit, the first all-inclusive Social Media App made in India. When launched, the app will function as a messaging & social media space as well as allow users to book travel, search jobs, shop and more.

Vellapalath also founded the Kerala Pravasi Association – an independent national political party that ensures honest alternative politics with progressive ideas for the people of India.

As founding Chairman, Rajendran has approached the Supreme Court demanding that non-residents be given the right to vote.  The party’s core mission is to implement the NRIs’ expertise and vision in 36 key areas related to the daily lives of the people of India. These include poverty alleviation, agriculture, dairy development, elimination of unemployment, infrastructure development (drinking water, housing, health care, etc.), environmental protection, energy , clean Kerala, Insurance, renewable energy , electric vehicles, drug-free Kerala, e-Governance, women safety and empowerment and more.

Former Tamil Nadu Minister and Rajya Sabha MP S Thangavelu received his doctorate on behalf of Vellapalath, at the graduation ceremony held in Chennai.
