In an exciting announcement, IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) revealed a significant step forward in its expansion plans with the signing of a management agreement with AXA IM Alts for the upcoming Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo, set to open its doors by early 2025.
The move marks a poignant return to Japan for the renowned Holiday Inn brand, tracing back its origins over half a century ago with the debut of the first Holiday Inn in 1973. The revival in Kyoto signifies a meaningful milestone, adding to Japan’s hospitality landscape as the eleventh property under the esteemed Holiday Inn brand family and IHG’s third venture in the city, joining the ranks alongside ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto and the recently inaugurated Six Senses Kyoto.
A comprehensive refurbishment before its grand reopening under the esteemed brand. Guests can anticipate a range of modern amenities and leisure offerings, including a lobby lounge & café bar, upscale dining venue, multiple banquet rooms, traditional Japanese daiyokujo baths, and a well-equipped gym.
A notable aspect of the renovation works is the emphasis on enhancing energy efficiency, with the installation of energy-saving showers, guest room management systems, and other eco-friendly facilities aimed at securing BELS certification for the hotel’s energy conservation efforts.
Strategically positioned between Kyoto’s main station and its plethora of cultural landmarks and traditional dining spots, Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo promises unparalleled convenience for travelers, particularly those arriving via the Shinkansen bullet train. With Kyoto’s tourism sector showing remarkable resilience post-pandemic, surpassing pre-crisis visitor numbers, the hotel stands poised to cater to a growing influx of domestic and international guests.
Upon its launch, Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo aims to leverage the global recognition of the world’s largest hotel brand family, coupled with IHG’s expansive enterprise systems and acclaimed loyalty program, IHG One Rewards, boasting over 130 million members worldwide.
Abhijay Sandilya, Managing Director of Japan & Micronesia IHG Hotels & Resorts and CEO of IHG-ANA Hotels Group Japan G.K., expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with AXA IM Alts, remarking on the brand’s rich history in Kyoto and its commitment to providing exceptional experiences for visitors to the city.
With 59 open and pipeline hotels across Japan, IHG reaffirms its position as a leading international hotel company, poised for unprecedented growth and innovation in the Japanese hospitality sector.
