GHM to manage Neom’s mountain resort in Saudi Arabia

General Hotel Management (GHM), a global creator of hotels and resorts, has signed a strategic agreement with NEOM Hotel Development, the developer of a future-centric hospitality ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, to manage The Chedi Trojena.

GHM is the second hotel partner for Trojena – a unique perennial mountain destination and host venue of the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

Nestled within the Slope Residences atop the mountain peaks, The Chedi Trojena will be part of an iconic residential village in one of Trojena’s six distinctive clusters: Gateway, Discover, Valley, Explore, Relax and Fun. The hotel’s location in the Relax Cluster serves as a sanctuary for reflection, recreation, and rejuvenation with world-class wellness programmes.

Its design blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, with nature trail paths and a thoughtful public realm for healthier living. The Slope Residences will offer guests a range of experiences stretching from culinary nourishment, sports and adventure, health, and longevity, as well as restorative and meditative activities, all with uninterrupted views overlooking the Lake of Trojena.

The design narrative for the hotel will be imbued with the kingdom’s rich history with a nod to Trojena’s futuristic architecture for a contemporary appeal befitting its awe-inspiring destination. The essence of GHM’s hallmark ‘A Style to Remember’ lies in its seamless delivery of 19 refined touchpoints of the group’s Guest Experience Signatures. Each touchpoint melds GHM’s mastery in accentuating contemporary Asian designs with local nuances for a pronounced sense of place, guided by six branded essences: timeless, elegant, personal, contemporary, authentic, and sensorial.

“We are honoured to be the second hotel partner selected by NEOM Hotel Development to realise its vision of hospitality excellence of the future. GHM’s remit is to create an exceptional luxury sanctuary that will chart the course for this shared new future,” said Tommy Lai, GHM’s Chief Executive Officer.

“The Chedi Trojena, a showcase of the region’s rich cultural and environmental heritage, is a perfect complement to our collection of unrivalled lifestyle experiences in the world’s most alluring destinations.”

“Trojena redefines the understanding of ultra-luxury hospitality and mountain tourism. With GHM’s international acclaim in operating iconic resorts globally, we share the same resolve to elevate the travel experience for discerning guests. The Chedi Trojena will serve as a luxurious sanctuary in the Gulf’s first outdoor ski resort, where world-class sporting events, art exhibitions, concerts, and cultural festivals will be staged,” said Philip Gullett, Executive Director and Region Head at Trojena.

“The Chedi brand has a proven track record of creating inimitable and authentic hospitality concepts. By capturing this spirit of luxury escapism, we can deliver on our promise of giving visitors something that they have never seen before, and in turn, experience the world in ways they couldn’t have imagined,” said Chris Newman, Executive Director, Hotel Development at NEOM.

Construction on Trojena commenced in December 2022 and is slated to welcome its first guests in 2026. The mountain destination will also feature 30 km of ski slopes for visitors of all ages and levels, ultra-luxury and wellness hotels and resorts as well as over 100 indoor and outdoor experiences available all year-round.
