Accor is set to expand its luxury footprint in Egypt with the signing of Sofitel Cairo New Capital Hotel & Residences, a new flagship property for the group that will strengthen the Sofitel brand in Egypt.
The new property will be located in the heart of the New Administrative Capital (NAC) of Cairo, a city designed on its own and featuring hospitality, residential, entertainment, commercial, retail components and government entities, including the presidential palace, parliament, cabinet, supreme court, all ministries of Egypt and various foreign embassies.
The property will introduce two towers, and a podium, in which the first tower will feature 200 hotel keys and 280 branded residences, from one to four bedrooms, while the second tower will include offices and commercial spaces.
The group is collaborating with Edge Holding, an Egyptian real-estate developer created by Al Borouj Misr Developments and Al Mashariq KSA as a joint venture in 2018.
“Edge Holding Urban Development is the first and largest Egyptian-Saudi business investment that took place in the New Administrative Capital. It has introduced 20 years of experience and because of its congregated experience, it has been able to undertake two booming projects under the umbrella of the Egyptian government” said Hazem El-Sherif, Chairman of Edge Holding.
Strategically located at the centre of the New Administrative Capital, with various parks, an international airport, educational institutes, medical facilities and 20 skyscrapers, including Africa’s tallest tower, the property will also offer convenient and easy access to the main roads running from north to south and further connecting the NAC to the rest of Cairo.
“This is another key milestone for us in Egypt,” said Mark Willis, CEO of Accor India, Middle East, Africa & Turkey.” We are very proud to expand our luxury footprint in Cairo further, especially in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), through the Sofitel brand, which will definitely succeed in blending the essence of the destination with French Art de Vivre, while creating chic experiences for our guests to ‘Live the French way’!”
Once open, Sofitel Cairo New Capital Hotel & Residences is expected to meet guests and travelers expectations, whether they are looking for a convenient location within the NAC with luxurious offerings or for long-term accommodation through the branded residences onsite. In addition, the property will also feature five Food & Beverage venues, ample meeting space and large recreational areas.
Accor currently operates 34 properties (9,399 keys) in Egypt, with another 34 (9,951 keys) in the pipeline.
