Spain eases entry rules for Gulf visitors

Spain has eased entry procedures for for touristic purposes from the Gulf following improvement in the pandemic  situation and the progress in vaccination roll-out, both in Spain and the region.

The UAE now joins Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait and Bahrain on the list of countries with low incidence and all passengers from these countries will be able to travel to Spain for touristic purposes without the need for a diagnostic test or a certificate of vaccination or immunity, that is tourists can travel regardless of having any vaccination, diagnostic or recovery certificate, said a statement from Spain Tourism.

However, before travelling to Spain (even in transit) all passengers must have the QR code which is obtained after filling in the Health Control Form (FCS in Spanish), available in Spain Travel Health (www.spth.gob.es).

The FCS QR Code can be downloaded on the Spain’s Travel Health website or through the mobile phone (apps for Android or iOs devices). Airlines or maritime companies may ask for the FCS QR code before boarding and the personnel of the control devices in the airports and ports at the point of arrival will also be checking the QR code. In case travelers have any problems filling out this form or any questions regarding the health control procedure upon arrival in Spain, they may call +34 910 50 30 50 or send an email to spth@sanidad.gob.es , it said.

“This is indeed a  great news especially for the GCC region as we have seen a significant  increase in numbers to Spain  in the past months and the trend continues. It shows that Spain is up to speed and the Covid-19 situation is well contained. This update of reduced restrictions will definitely increase tourism numbers to Spain,” said Daniel Rosado, Director, Spain tourism – GCC.

“We are happy to welcome GCC travelers to our beautiful country with open arms as always. Being a year round destination, Spain has the added advantage to attract travelers for autumn and winter  and now the European Centre for Disease  and Control (ECDC) has listed Spain as one of the safest countries to travel which is even more assuring to travelers,” Rosado said.
