AI-powered search engine Perplexity has launched a new hotel booking feature in collaboration with Selfbook and Tripadvisor, allowing users to book accommodations directly within the platform.
Perplexity’s co-founder and CEO, Aravind Srinivas, announced the update on LinkedIn, showcasing how users can now select a “mode” to refine their searches across travel, shopping, and other categories. With Selfbook’s booking infrastructure and Tripadvisor’s review data, users can make hotel reservations seamlessly.
“The next step is to get so precise that you don’t even need to press on these tabs,” Srinivas said. The feature is currently available on the web, with mobile access coming soon. Additionally, Perplexity Pro users will receive exclusive hotel discounts.
Selfbook CEO Khalid Meniri emphasized the shift from traditional search-driven booking to instant, AI-powered transactions. “2025 is the year of action … You should be able to book from the point of inspiration,” he said, hinting at future integrations for flights and car rentals.
Tripadvisor’s partnership with Perplexity, announced earlier this year, aims to enhance trip planning by incorporating AI-generated summaries, reviews, and experiences from Viator. Srinivas sees this as a key step in making Perplexity a true Google competitor, stating, “Structured answers with built-in transactions are necessary for becoming a daily-use product.”
