75 Years of TAAI: Connect, Collaborate, Celebrate

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has officially begun its journey toward its 75th anniversary, set to take place in 2026. The celebratory countdown was launched in January 2025 in New Delhi with the unveiling of a commemorative logo. The event brought together prominent figures, including Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, alongside key representatives from the travel, trade, aviation, and hospitality industries.

The initiative marks the beginning of a two-year-long celebration, reflecting on TAAI’s rich legacy and its pivotal contributions to India’s tourism sector. By launching the festivities a year in advance, TAAI aims to make this milestone a meaningful and impactful event, fostering a deeper connection with the travel industry and its members.

Speaking at the event, TAAI President Sunil Kumar R shared the vision for the next two years, describing them as a “runway to 2026.” He emphasized the importance of making this period productive and purposeful. “We would like to do something very meaningful, which is why this lead-up to the 75th year is crucial for our newly elected committee. The theme going forward is to connect, collaborate, and celebrate,” he said.

Highlighting TAAI’s evolution, Kumar noted that the association goes far beyond its roots as a collective of ticketing agents. “We are home to the largest number of tour operators in the country. Our focus is on fostering collaboration within the industry, enhancing our relevance to members, and being the representative voice for passengers and the broader travel community,” he explained.

One of TAAI’s key objectives is to establish a dedicated marketplace in India, creating a robust business network for its members. “This initiative will strengthen connections within the industry, build collaboration, and continue to make TAAI a powerful representative of stakeholders. Since our inception in 1951, we have maintained strong ties with the government and have consistently championed the interests of the travel and tourism sector,” Kumar added.

As TAAI moves closer to its 75th anniversary, the association’s focus on innovation, collaboration, and celebration underscores its commitment to shaping the future of Indian tourism while honoring its remarkable legacy.
