Amadeus and Lufthansa Group partner to drive traveler-centric retail transformation

In a milestone move for the airline industry, Amadeus has been selected as a key technology provider by the Lufthansa Group. As the Lufthansa Group assumes a leading role in the airline industry’s digital transformation, it is looking at a range of Amadeus Nevio modular solutions to support personalized services and more efficient operations.

Amadeus Nevio, a next-generation modular solution, will provide nine airlines – including Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and Swiss – with flexible core technology, supporting them to transform at their own pace. In an industry first, the future adoption of Delivery Management will redefine the passenger experience with data-driven systems that support personalized services and more efficient operations. Delivery Management is part of the Amadeus Nevio modular offering and is designed to work seamlessly with Amadeus Nevio Offer and Order Management.

Personalized retail

Lufthansa Group aims to combine its own content and that of partners into more personalized offers that better meet traveler expectations across the entire journey. As part of the planned collaboration, Amadeus Product Catalogue and Stock Keeper will help expand Lufthansa Group’s offering, and provide an accurate view of product availability across the entire journey supporting tailored offers and improved customer satisfaction.

A single order

Central to the transformation of the airline industry is the move to Orders, based on IATA’s Order standard. Amadeus Order Management is designed to manage the traveler’s full journey – including flights, ancillaries, and third-party services – within a single Order. This supports the industry’s shift toward modern airline retailing, by providing one record to manage all purchases, eventually replacing tickets and Passenger Name Records.

Smooth servicing throughout the journey

Lufthansa Group is expected to become the first airline group to adopt Amadeus Delivery Management, a key module that is designed to transform the traveler experience and flight operations. Capabilities such as a digital Journey Pass and fulfillment tracking will allow passengers to be recognized at key points in the journey, while supporting more intuitive disruption handling and personalized services.

“The Lufthansa Group is the pioneer in modern airline retailing. We are excited to partner with Amadeus to advance the development and implementation of an innovative order technology and to further improve the travel experience for our customers,” said Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Executive Vice President, Strategy, Lufthansa Group.

“Lufthansa Group and Amadeus share a long track record of collaboration that has been instrumental in shaping airline technology. We’re excited for the next phase of this relationship, which is our largest Nevio engagement to date, with a focus on modern airline retailing. The planned development of Amadeus Delivery Management marks an industry first, especially for servicing across the Group, representing a promising step toward more seamless, end-to-end travel experiences.

With Amadeus Nevio’s open, modular approach, we aim to deliver exactly what Lufthansa Group needs to transform,” said Decius Valmorbida, President of Travel, Amadeus.
