The Indian state of Karnataka has reported an overwhelming response at the recently concluded Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 from the Middle East market. Several visitors and trade partners expressed their interest in the diverse tourism offerings of the state.
Over 200 trade visitors and travel professionals visited the Karnataka Tourism pavilion and had B2B meetings during the four-day event.
The main objective of Karnataka’s participation was to showcase the state’s cultural heritage and promote Karnataka as a preferred tourism destination in the Middle East market, said H T Ratnakar, Adviser – Tourism and Hospitality, Karnataka Tourism.
Speaking to TTN at the impressive stand which highlighted Karnataka’s cultural heritage, Ratnakar said: “The state has abundant attractions for tourists, from hill stations and heritage sites to beaches. Karnataka boasts a diverse array of offerings. Moreover, the state is home to 18 wildlife sanctuaries, which have become particularly popular in the wake of the pandemic, as people seek to spend several days immersed in nature.
“In fact, Karnataka Tourism has 24 jungle properties for visitors to choose from. Overall, Karnataka is a truly rich and varied destination for travelers,” he said.
Currently, Karnataka ranks No. 5 among Indian states in terms of tourist arrivals. “We are making a sincere effort to increase our ranking,” said Ratnakar.
Participation in the ATM is part of the state’s efforts to encourage more tourists from the region to visit and enjoy its offerings.
“We participate in 10 international travel marts, including ATM Dubai, where Karnataka Tourism will have its own pavilion, and we are bringing along our stakeholders such as hoteliers, tour operators, and travel agents,” he said.
The state also conducts road shows in some countries. “In fact, last year, we participated in 16 road shows in different countries,” he said. “In addition to the international market, we also focus on the domestic market by participating in events and hosting road shows every year.”
The state also hosts a bi-annual tourism show called Karnataka Tourism Market, which will be held later this year and dates are likely to be announced soon.
Tourism service providers from Karnataka present at the event included Skyway International Travels, Gamyam Ayurveda and Yoga Retreat, Paul John Resorts & Hotels, and Niraa Wellness.
