Royal Jordanian expands Airbus A320neo fleet to 12 new aircraft

Royal Jordanian Airlines has added a new Airbus A320neo, increasing its total to 12, alongside seven new Embraer E2 aircraft. The airline’s fleet, primarily composed of aircraft less than a year old, is set to have around 70% renewed by year-end, aided by the arrival of two Airbus A321s.

This modernisation reflects the airline’s commitment to high-quality service and advancements in global aviation. Notably, two Airbus A320neo aircraft feature 180 all-economy seats with a new “Premium Economy” service aimed at attracting tourists.

The airline has also enhanced its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner fleet, which includes a comprehensive upgrade program for in-flight Wi-Fi and cabin refurbishments, with the first refurbished aircraft expected to return by October 2025.

Additionally, Royal Jordanian will introduce its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in early 2026 as part of its long-haul fleet enhancement.

The airline is also focusing on cargo operations to solidify Jordan’s role as a regional logistics hub, operating a new A321PF freighter and utilising the cargo capacity of passenger aircraft.

Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, stated: “The introduction of these new aircraft supports our strategic goal of promoting tourism and serving key destinations, in line with Royal Jordanian’s ongoing efforts to position Jordan as a preferred tourist destination. We continue to strengthen Amman’s role as a leading regional transit hub and to enhance Royal Jordanian’s standing as the preferred choice for passengers connecting the Levant region with major cities in the Middle East and Europe.”

Majali added that the airline’s fleet is expected to grow to around 40 aircraft over the coming years, in tandem with the expansion of Royal Jordanian’s route network, which currently serves 55 direct destinations worldwide.
