Delta is bringing together an ecosystem of digital services and experiences to create Delta Sync, its new in-flight entertainment (IFE) experience for passengers, that will ensure every trip is a personalized fit.
Rolling out in 2023, Delta Sync was developed at an investment of $1 billion and is underpinned by SkyMiles membership and catalyzed through free Wi-Fi to deliver personalized and exclusive in-flight entertainment, more ways to enjoy your favorite onboard food and beverage, and exclusive partnerships with top consumer brands coming this year.
“Delta Sync elevates what it means to be a Delta SkyMiles Member by enabling a journey that fits you perfectly and grows more rewarding the more you travel,” said CEO Ed Bastian from the C Space keynote stage at CES 2023. “The future of travel is one where your digital and physical experiences come together in a seamless, warm and personal way, making those human travel connections even more meaningful.”
He also noted that part of Delta’s comprehensive approach will be to convert all 150,000 of its current screens into touch-responsive screens.
The free Wi-Fi will be available beginning February 1 and for all planes that are capable — which is currently about 80 per cent of their U.S. system. “By the end of next year, we’ll have it on all of our international planes, then on all of our regional planes,” he added.
The Delta Sync platform is expected to arrive in April.
At CES 2023, Bastian shared a vision for a new standard of personalized travel, with an ecosystem of experiences that put customer needs and preferences at the center of the journey.
FREE WI-FI AND DELTA SYNC EXCLUSIVES HUB
In partnership with T-Mobile, Delta will offer fast, free Wi-Fi to all Delta SkyMiles Members on board most domestic mainline flights beginning Feb. 1, the first US global carrier to offer availability of free Wi-Fi as a core element of its customer experience. Delta SkyMiles Members will now enjoy exclusive in-flight access to premium entertainment from Paramount+, new destination guides from Atlas Obscura and more in 2023 with Delta Sync.
DELTA SYNC ON DEMAND
The all-new in-flight entertainment system is designed to offer more of what customers would find on their home smart TV. With food and beverage ordering in First Class, curated content recommendations, real-time seatback flight notifications and more, Delta plans to introduce early versions of the system this summer.
FACIAL MATCHING
Currently available in Atlanta and Detroit, Delta Sync facial matching is already helping customers save time and hassle as part of the check-in process. Delta SkyMiles Members who opt into Delta Sync facial matching can enjoy seamless baggage drop, security and boarding without the hassle of pulling out their ID or boarding pass.
