Lufthansa Business Class guests will now be able to experience authentic German cuisine the new catering concept “Tasting HEIMAT” (heimat translating as “home” or “homeland”) on short- and medium-haul flights from September 1.
The new menu which will offers a taste of traditional German cuisine is inspired by the cities of Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf and Leipzig and will offer new dishes not only weekly, but also on the outward and return flights, allowing their frequent travelers more variety.
From appetizer to main course to coffee table – “Tasting HEIMAT” will serve some German classics with unusual components.
A typical menu would consist of a shrimp salad with a beetroot and potato terrine, inspired by Hamburg’s sea breeze; the Frankfurt classic “Grie Soß” (green sauce) with young kale, a poached egg and French Macaire potatoes and some traditional “Leipziger Allerlei”- a chicken salad with celeriac, juniper and black walnuts, served together with the traditional and freshly baked breads and rolls.
The dishes have been exclusively put together by the airline’s young star chefs Julia Komp and Dennis Puchert and the gategroup culinary team.
The menu also highlights the airline’s commitment to using sustainable and regionally produced ingredients from the regions around Frankfurt and Munich, while ensuring no use of any disposable plastic.
