Minor Hotels, global hotel owner and operator with more than 560 hotels and resorts in 58 countries located in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Africa, as well as the Indian Ocean, announces its upcoming debut in Paraguay with the development of a new NH Collection hotel in Asunción. This ambitious project will be part of a large-scale mixed-use real estate development, establishing itself as a new architectural icon and a benchmark for the city.
The project will be located on Avenida Santa Teresa, 400 metres from the intersection with Avenida Aviadores del Chaco, one of the most important and dynamic arteries of the Paraguayan capital. Integrated into a complex of more than 70 floors, which will become the tallest building in Asunción and the fourth tallest in South America, this development will include residences, offices, commercial spaces and parking; creating a world-class urban ecosystem that will bring value to the city and its inhabitants.
Slated to launch in 2029, the new-build property will have 80 guest rooms and will be operated under the NH Collection brand, within the upper-upscale segment, offering a premium hospitality experience with world-class design and service standards in line with the brand’s global expansion strategy. The hotel’s offering will be aimed at both business and leisure travellers, with a first-class infrastructure that will include a spa, pool, restaurant and bar, terrace, heliport and meeting rooms, establishing itself as a benchmark destination in the region.
The development of this hotel is carried out in partnership with Grupo Petra, a leading real estate firm in Paraguay, recognised for its excellence in construction and for developing innovative high-level projects. The total estimated investment for the hotel is between 8 and 12 million dollars, and it is expected to generate 35 to 40 direct jobs, contributing to the economic and tourism development of the city.
“We are confident that, together with Grupo Petra, we will make this hotel a benchmark in Asunción, a city with great dynamism and growth potential. The arrival of NH Collection represents a strategic commitment to grow our footprint in Paraguay with a distinctive product that elevates the hospitality offering in the country. This hotel will not only be an architectural icon but will also mark a turning point in the tourism experience in the city,” said Gonzalo Aguilar, CEO of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas.
Minor Hotels’ strategic entry into Paraguay is in response to an analysis of the market, where sustained growth in corporate and leisure tourism is observed, as well as an increase in demand for hotels in the upscale and premium categories. In addition, Asunción has consolidated itself as a key destination for events and conventions, which reinforces the opportunity for the arrival of a brand like NH Collection.
The NH Collection Asunción marks the first step of Minor Hotels in Paraguay, while the company continues to evaluate opportunities in secondary cities of the country. In turn, Minor Hotels maintains its growth strategy in Latin America, exploring key markets such as Chile, Argentina and Peru, as well as other consolidated destinations in the region.
With a focus on expansion through hotel management and franchise models, the company seeks to strengthen its presence in emerging markets with innovative and high-quality products.
“We are excited to start this project together with Minor Hotels, a company that shares our passion for excellence and quality. With their support, we know that this will be the beginning of something extraordinary,” says Carlos Guasti, director of Grupo Petra.
The start of construction of this property is scheduled in the coming months, with the hotel’s inauguration estimated for 2029.
