Waldorf Astoria, Canopy by Hilton to open in Seychelles

Hilton, a leading global hospitality player, will open two luxury resorts in the Indian Ocean island nation of Seychelles in the coming months. Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts, Hilton’s signature luxury hotel brand, is set to open the highly anticipated Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island on February 15, signaling the debut of the brand in the Seychelles.

Marking the inception of the first Canopy by Hilton in Africa, Canopy by Hilton Seychelles, is set to open its doors on March 25.

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island will create a new benchmark for luxury in the Indian Ocean. The resort lies just over 130 km south of Mahé, in a pristine atoll fringed by palm forests and migratory seabirds and turtles protected by its own lagoon and coral reef.

The resort will be home to a collection of 50 seafront villas, featuring up to five-bedroom villas for unique vacation experiences, all equipped with their own private pool and personal concierge. Home to native Hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, manta rays and whale sharks, much of Platte Island’s surrounding scenery remains beautifully untouched, promising a plethora of firsts and an unrivalled sense of magic for guests.

Elias Pertoft, General Manager, Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, said: “In the two decades I have called remote tropical islands a home, I have never witnessed an island as pristine as Platte Island, nor one so teaming with wildlife, where it is possible to glimpse endangered Hawksbill turtles laying eggs, eagle rays and reef sharks ribboning along the lagoon. This combined with the elegant Waldorf Astoria service and personalized guest experiences is a winning combination that will redefine luxury in the Seychelles. I look forward to welcoming guests to this landmark destination.”

The resort will feature six restaurants and bars offering a collection of culinary experiences that celebrate the bounty of fruit and vegetables grown on Platte Island. ‘Maison des Epices’ is a celebration of Creole Latino cuisine and its signature restaurant, ‘Moulin’, will take guests on a soil-to-soul dining experience, showcasing the embodiment of Executive Chef, Jane Therese Mulry’s passion for conscious eating.

‘La Perle’ is an elevated Mediterranean restaurant, serving a range of nutritious breakfast dishes, whilst ‘Peacock Terrace’ is an intimate sanctuary, with an extensive selection of artisanal pastries and Seychelles-roasted coffee. Refined evening bar ‘Lalin’ provides the ideal setting for soaking up breathtaking views of the island’s sunsets and ‘Torti’ is a vibrant pool and beach bar, comprising rich flavours with an immersive music-filled atmosphere.

The Waldorf Spa will offer a serene destination for holistic well-being, featuring six treatment rooms, a beauty salon, hammam, spa suite and serene outdoor spaces that blend harmoniously to offer guests an unparalleled spa experience.

As part of the resort’s Travel with Purpose commitment, Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island will use a solar field to create renewable energy across most of its operations. The island’s garden will provide a large portion of its fruits and vegetables, which will deliver a sustainable farm-to-table culinary experience for guests.

The Seychelles has long been a glamorous getaway for guests seeking the ultimate barefoot luxury holiday. Touching down on Platte Island and stepping off the plane onto this 14-km-wide lagoon, stories begin, and unforgettable memories are made.

The opening of Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island will take Hilton’s Seychelles portfolio to five hotels as it further expands its footprint in the destination, joining Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa, Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles -Allamanda Resort and Spa. Hilton also expects to open Canopy by Hilton Mahé in March 2024.

Rates start from €3,650, B&B at Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island.
